Kodi at the coast

Dakoda, "Kodi," is my blue heeler and is a wonderful, loyal companion and has been for over 11 years now.  Christmas of 1994, my parents surprised me with her and she has been such an amazing friend from the beginning.

Kodi enjoys just hanging out with me and loves the farm life.  She is quite fascinated with the baby goats, she loves to give them kisses, and thinks it is her job to keep the older goats in line.

Kodi and I attempted agility where she received her NJC-V (Novice Jumpers Certificate - Veteran) title.  Kodi did not understand why there had to be another person in the ring and would bite the jump bars before going over them.  She took her "heeling" to the extreme!

Kodi loves to play catch, swim, and herd whatever will listen to her.

Below is something I wrote in school about Kodi 9 years ago:

"Kodi captivated my heart the first time I looked into her big, brown puppy dog eyes.  It was Christmas morning of 1994 when I received her as a gift.  When we were done opening gifts around the tree my parents said they had a surprise for each of us inside the barn.  My two younger brothers and little sister were thrilled when they saw brand new bikes, my older sister loved her new silver bridle, and my older brother was very excited when he saw a snowboard.  Sitting in front of me was a wrapped box with a bow around it.  The moment I opened that lid I knew I had a forever friend.  Kodi is now three years old and full of life.  She is an Australian Cattle Dog who is small for her breed.  Kodi has many talents, which include frisbee, playing catch, and swimming.  She is devoted totally to me and tolerates the rest of my family.  Aside from me, Kodi's best friends are her stuffed animals that she proudly carries around the house and plays with.  After she is done playing she carries her toys back up to her basket in my room where she got them.  I couldn't have asked for a more loyal and loving companion."
