I started my Nigerian Dwarf herd in November of 2005 and am very excited to be raising these wonderful little goats! I had pygmy goats for over five years prior to the Nigerians and once I learned about the Nigerian Dwarfs, I decided to switch breeds and have been very happy. I love their personality, the color possibilities, and the ability to milk these goats, while they are still a manageable size. Currently I have 15 Does and 3 bucks. I was blessed with 11 kids in the 2007 kidding season and 22 kids in 2008. For 2009, I plan to breed 9 does in the Spring and 3 in the Fall. I purchased a milk machine this last Summer and have been enjoying using that. It makes such a difference for the goats that do not like being milked as well as making the process much easier. I currently have 3 in milk and hope to keep milking all winter. My husband and I drink the milk and love it! My husband and I got married in early 2008 and have been having fun working on the barn and property getting it set up how we want it. If you have any questions about my goats or goats in general, feel free to send me an email! - Cristen |
